Checklist of the Collembola: Key to the species of Mesaphorura

This key is still under construction. Note that missing figures will be provided as soon as possible. Currently, the key is in the feasibility study phase to find out how to integrate in the checklist in a modular way a key that has been generated with DELTA.

Endnotes

1 Mesaphorura orousseti, in the original description does not have a pseudocellus in the abd. V. All Mesaphorura have this pseudocellus, therefore this pseudocellus is assumed to be present in orousseti. In this way, longispina and stelae become synonyms of orousseti.

2 Mesaphorura jevanica, in the original description does not have m4 in the abd. IV. Then jevanica is a synonym of arbeai.

3 Mesaphorura jevanica, in the original pictures seta m5 is present on abd. IV. In this case jevanica is a synonym of macrochaeta.

4 Mesaphorura tenuisensillata, in the original description macrochaeta m5 is present. Then tenuisensillata is a synonym of sensibilis.

5 Sensu Simón. Mesaphorura tenuisensillata, in the original pictures macrochaeta m5 is absent. Then tenuisensillata sensu Simón is a valid species.

6 Mesaphorura iowensis is a species complex. It should be reviewed. M. critica might be synonymous.

7 Mesaphorura iowensis is a species complex. It should be reviewed.

8 Mesaphorura iowensis is a species complex. It should be reviewed.

9 Mesaphorura iowensis is a species complex. It should be reviewed.
