Preamble
The work of J. Paclt (1956), 'Biologie der primär flügellosen Insekten',
is the earliest comprehensive work on the references of Collembola,
containing the entire bibliography on Apterygota from Linnaeus to 1955,
and listing a total of about 2400 publications.
The next important work on references of Collembola taxonomy is the
monograph of Salmon (1964) which contains lists of all
species, localities and publications on Collembola
until about 1962. Salmon listed 2603 references.
Post 1962 publications are estimated to be at least 5000.
In his monograph on the biology of the Collembola,
Hopkin (1997) lists about 2500 references; about 50% of the publications
from 1960 to 1979, about 90% of the publications
between 1980 to 1989 and all publications from 1990
to about 1995 are included.
Hopkin (1997-2005) maintained at his web site
lists of recent Collembola references.
These lists to recent literature on Collembola are organised chronologically on year of publication and alphabethically on author.
From mid 2005, those webpages were discontinued.
They are maintained up to 2007 by Jeff Battigelli at his website.
