Currently being revised.

Introduction

In February 1996, Dr Gianluca Governatori of the Universit… degli Studi di Udine mailed me six samples for determination with Collembola specimens from the (pre-)Alps from the environments of Friuli-Venezia Guilia, Italy.

End January, 1997, I finally determined the last specimen... The following is a summary of what I have found in the samples. Some specimens are detailed with a short description.

White. No pigmentation. Body with scales. Antenna I subdivided into two segments, the basal segment shortest. Antenne IV seems subdivided in many segments. No eyes. No eye-patches. Tergit abdomen IV < 2x abdomen III. Dentes ventral with scales. Dentes crenulate. Mucro bidental.

Third tibiotarsus with two large thorn-like setae (= rare according to Christiansen & Bellinger, 1980).

Tritomurus scutellatus Frauenfeld, 1845

Pigmentation of the specimen from sample 1 very weak.
Pigmentation of the adult specimens from sample 2 grayish with white patches. Typical triangular black patch frontal at the head between the bases of the antenna. No eyes, no eye-patches. Antenna always longer than body-length.
